[AG]WPJA results

I am a member of [AG]WPJA, the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, of which I am also a member. The [AG]WPJA is a selective group of photographers who take a photojouranlistic approach to the day, but also shoot and manipulate photographs in a more artistic way. I entered their third quarter contest, and I’m so thrilled to say that I placed 30th overall. I know that might not sound like the most impressive ranking, but considering it is a global organization and that I only entered a few images, I’m quite pleased.
This image from Kara and Mike’s wedding placed seventh in the ceremony category. The judges commented on the moment and the cleanness of the image.
And this photograph at Elaine and John’s wedding placed 17th in the “Reception Ambiance” category. The judges said: “This is a very arresting image. The use of limited depth of field and strong color adds to its impact. Very cinematic.”
In other news, I’ve also been selected to be a part of Modern Photographers, a wonderful resource for couples looking for unique wedding and portrait photographers across the country. Brides and grooms can email the group with information about their wedding date and location, and members of the group who are available can be put in contact with you—no need to email everyone under the sun to see about their availability. If you are looking for wedding inspiration, the quality of talent in the group is very high, so definitely check out the site.
Lastly, I’m also a preferred vendor at Wedding Chicks, one of the top wedding blogs in the country. Many wonderful resources are also available there.
