Julie + Brett :: Chicago Engagement Connection Session

I had been looking forward to Julie + Brett’s connection session for quite some time, and we were finally able to go out last Thursday to take some wonderful images, after another rain reschedule. Julie + Brett came in for a consultation in the winter, asking me if I would want any Sultan’s Market for dinner. I remember thinking, “What? Prospective clients want to bring me falafel from one of my favourite places? Okay!” So they came over and we had one of the best meetings I’ve had, spending time chatting about their day and their background, their artistic hopes for the day, and eating some delicious Middle Eastern food. I remember being so happy after the meeting, so excited to feel that I had met clients who really “got it” and were so excited about the process and artistic images. Over the past few months we’ve also exchanged emails, and I feel so lucky to have been chosen to share in their day! Julie and Brett both exhibit such palpable joy in their lives. Julie is fun, kind, sarcastic in this way I adore, and incredibly thoughtful (she even offered to help me move after some snafus I had earlier this summer!), and Brett is curious, positive, just so very nice, and full of surprises (they probably won’t see these for a while as Brett whisked Julie off to Amsterdam on a surprise vacation the day after our session). We had a great time, taking some beautiful nature-infused photographs, as well as some colourful, industrial images. Afterward, they treated me to a delicious dinner at Veerasway (pro tip: their pitcher of margaritas does not serve four glasses, but rather four very, very thirsty people, as Julie and I learned). They are getting married this October at Architectural Artifacts and I can’t wait!
