The Knot Luxury Weddings + Blog Features

Many thanks to the team at The Knot for featuring Danielle & Eric’s incredible wedding from this past September. This was featured in a special pull out luxury weddings section in the national issue. Many thanks to the awesome team from that day, especially Renny Pedersen at Bliss Weddings and Events + Jesse Deckard at Event Creative.
Meagan and Drew also had their gorgeous autumnal wedding on Ruffled, and Diana and Mike’s quirky Salvage One affair was on Style Me Pretty.Congrats to all the couples on their features!

Martha Stewart Weddings + Cafe Brauer

When I first started my business, I made a little list of some general goals I had when everything just seemed like a distant dream—“book 20 weddings!” “shoot a destination wedding” “get to know 5 other photographers.” They seem funny now but to me they were big goals. One of the other ones on the list was to be featured in Martha Stewart Weddings. I still feel that Martha Stewart brings such unique and fresh ideas to the table in what can be a very repetitive industry, and they continually feature some of the most lovely photography from photographers that I admire. I photographed Matt and Mindy’s wedding at KAM Israel in Hyde Park and Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park this summer—Mindy worked tirelessly on all of the incredible details from the day and also had dreams of maybe having it end up in Martha. Needless to say, I was so excited when their gorgeous wedding was featured as a real wedding on their site! Not the magazine, but still such a honor. Many thanks to the incredible team from this day—Anthony Navarro, who was just incredible; Jesse Deckard, one of the most talented designers in the city; and Bethany Fritz, who was an enormous help in photographing the day. Brides Chicago Spring/Summer

A big thank you to the great staff at Brides: Chicago for featuring a wedding and several other photos from events and sessions I shot in their latest Spring/Summer issue, and congrats to all the couples who had photos featured! Kristen and Scott’s beautiful wedding at Terzo Piano at the Art Institute had a lovely three page real wedding spread, which featured some of my favourite vendors from their day. A photo from Holland and Nate‘s engagement session also ran in a story about engagement session photo tips, Carolyn and Brian (whose wedding is still to come) had their amazing paisley cake from Flour Cake and Pastry, and a little photo from Julie and Matt‘s reception ran, as well. Congrats to all!

Photos featured at Chicago History Museum “I Do: Chicago Ties the Knot” Exhibit

The Chicago History Museum can sometimes be one of the overlooked treasures in Chicago, nestled in Old Town instead of in the heart of Museum Campus. However, it has been one of my favourites since first journeying up to the city to do research in their amazing archives in college, and since then, they have continued to curate really unique exhibits about history, style and architecture in the city.
As such, I was, of course, extremely excited and flattered when I was asked to contribute some photos for a video project that is part of their new exhibit, “I Do: Chicago Ties the Knot,” opening tomorrow at the museum. The exhibit traces the history of Chicago wedding fashions over more than a century, and features 45 beautiful and unique dresses (how much do I love that 50s dress?) from the past 150 years. Photos from a number of weddings I have photographed are featured. You can learn more about the exhibit on CHM’s site. I can’t wait to check it out, and hope you can, too!
